Topicals in Dermatology - Addressing the Skin Microbiome
Sponsored by:
Skin is our largest organ and has a robust and complex microbiome with both bacterial and fungal organisms. The human skin microbiota is essential for maintaining homeostasis and ensuring healthy barrier functions. Skin is constantly exposed to various endogenous and exogenous factors which can disrupt this balanced system and lead to inflammatory skin conditions. Dermatological diseases like acne and eczema are some of the most common diseases in the U.S. Understanding the changes in the microbiota composition associated with these conditions can help NDs address the root cause of these diseases. This talk will include evidence-based research on natural topicals to support skin health as well as case studies demonstrating the use of these topicals.
