IMMUNITY - JUNE 14
Six Keys to Healthy Aging: Immunosenescence, Immune Resilience, and Immune Restoration
Aging is a multifaceted process involving numerous molecular and cellular mechanisms that impact multiple organ systems. The effects of aging on the immune system manifests as a decreased ability to fight infection, diminished response to vaccination, increased incidence of cancer, higher prevalence of autoimmunity, and pervasive low-grade inflammation. Building and maintaining robust immunity and resilience requires an understanding of immunosenescence and inflammaging as well as targeted lifestyle, dietary, nutriceutical and botanical interventions that contribute to both increased lifespan and also healthspan and quality of life. An overview of the golden pearls of longevity from Traditional and modern Chinese Medicine will also be included in our discussion.
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand hallmarks of aging
- Define immune aging and immunosenescence
- Define immune resilience and immune restoration
- Define inflammaging
- Compare lifespan versus healthspan
- Identify interventions that reduce risk and enhance health and longevity
- Understand dietary and lifestyle factors
- Gain an understanding of nutriceuticals, botanicals, phytochemicals, and functional foods
- Learn a Traditional and modern Chinese Medicine perspective
