The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) recently unveiled its new slate of Board Officers, set to guide the organization through the next two years.

The announcement named Gail Christopher, DN, Chair, alongside David Jones, MD, Vice-Chair, David Harris, BFA, Secretary, and Terry L. Cook, CFP, CIMA, Treasurer for the term spanning January 2024 to December 2025. The newly appointed leadership team, all serving voluntarily, is tasked with steering IFM towards its goal of integrating functional medicine into mainstream healthcare.

Amy Mack, MSES/MPA, Chief Executive Officer of IFM, expressed her enthusiasm for the newly appointed officers. “I am honored to welcome Dr. Gail Christopher as Chair of the IFM Board of Directors and to work with this distinguished group of board officers,” she said. “The strategic support and direction provided by the board is critically important as we work to further enhance our education and training, elevate the certification program, build and strengthen partnerships, and explore new opportunities to drive systemic change in the delivery of health care around the globe.”

IFM expressed gratitude to the outgoing board chair, Joseph Pizzorno, ND, who guided the organization through numerous challenges during his tenure, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the announcement, his work also helped to expand collaborations and strategic partnerships and support practitioners throughout the military and Veterans Health Administration.

“Dr. Pizzorno’s work will continue to positively impact IFM and the field of functional medicine, and I am honored to build on all he has contributed to this organization,” said Dr. Christopher. “Looking ahead, IFM is poised to fundamentally transform the way functional medicine is understood, practiced, and embraced for all populations. I am thrilled to serve as chair during this exciting era.”
