Board-certified in cardiology, internal medicine, nuclear medicine and holistic medicine, Dr. Guarneri is the founder and medical director of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Guarneri was an English Literature major as an undergraduate at New York University. Her medical degree is from SUNY Medical Center in New York where she graduated number one in her class.
Dr. Guarneri served her internship and residency at Cornell Medical Center, where she later became chief medical resident. She served cardiology fellowships at both New York University Medical Center and Scripps Clinic. Dr. Guarneri served as an attending in interventional cardiology at Scripps Clinic where she placed thousands of coronary stents. Recognizing the need for a more comprehensive and more holistic approach to cardiovascular disease she pioneered the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine where she uses state-of-the-art cardiac imaging technology and lifestyle change programs to aggressively diagnose, prevent and treat cardiovascular disease. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Medical Women’s Association, and a diplomat of the American Board of Holistic Medicine.
Dr. Guarneri has authored several articles that have appeared in professional journals such as the Journal of Echocardiography and the Annals of Internal Medicine. Dr. Guarneri participated as a member of the writing committee for the American College of Cardiology Foundation Complementary Medicine Expert Consensus Document. This expert consensus statement on integrating complementary medicine into cardiovascular medicine was published in 2005. In addition to writing numerous book chapters and magazine articles, he is coauthor of five books on Integrative and Nutritional Medicine: The New Breastfeeding Diet Plan (McGraw-Hill, 2006), Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child, 2nd Edition (Avery Publishing, 2003), A Natural Guide to Pregnancy and Postpartum Health (Avery, 2002), Immunotics: A Revolutionary Way to Fight Infection, Beat Chronic Illness and Stay Well (Putnam, 2000), and A Parent’s Guide to Medical Emergencies (Avery, 1997). He is the medical editor for Delicious! Living and serves as a technical editor for Alternative and Complementary Therapies and Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association. A long-standing member of the adjunct faculty for the Institute for Functional Medicine in Gig Harbor, WA, and a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild, he has lectured widely to professional audiences as well as the general public, and frequently appears on radio shows throughout the United States and Canada.

Craig Schneider, MD - Director of Integrative Medicine, Maine Medical Center
Dr. Schneider is a graduate of Harvard College and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He is board certified in Family Medicine and received Fellowship training with Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine. Currently Dr. Schneider serves as Director of Integrative Medicine and Assistant Residency Director in the Department of Family Medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. He has led a National Centers for Complementary and Alternative Medicine educational grant to develop a model for training Family Medicine residents to understand and practice in a more integrative manner, that emphasizes wellness for practitioner and patient. Along with several Integrative Medicine education leaders around the nation, Dr. Schneider is piloting a combined four-year Integrative Family Medicine Residency/Fellowship training program with the support of the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation, Osteopathic Heritage Fund and the Weil Foundation. He is actively involved in clinical care, research, teaching, serves on the editorial boards of several integrative medicine journals and has published articles on topics relating to integrative medicine education, integrative clinical care and botanical medicine.

John Weeks is publisher-editor of the Integrator Blog News & Reports, a news and comment site that links the leadership of the diverse stakeholders with the various disciplines involved in the integration of natural healthcare and conventional practice. Weeks is a writer, organizer and consultant. His diverse work experience in integration includes: contractor for the National Institutes of Health and the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner; panelist for the White House Commission on CAM Policy; presenter for the American Hospital Association and the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine; and service as a resource for the US Institute of Medicine, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Newsweek, Modern Health Care and others. Weeks co-convened the Integrative Medicine Industry Leadership Summits (2000-2002), co-founded and directed the National Education Dialogue to Advance Integrated Health Care, and currently serves as executive director of the Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care.
